May 7

— The Carvers Creek Community will celebrate the annual Carvers Creek Community Reunion and May Day Celebration from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Baltimore Center. There will be a parade with parade line-up at 9 a.m. at Figure 9 Road. There will be lots of games, food and other activities for all ages. The highlight of this event will be the wrapping of the May Pole. Please come out and help celebrate this event.

— New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the Lisbon Community will host a Mother’s Day breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

May 8

— St. John AME Zion Church will observe Mother’s Day & Women’s Day. Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and Morning Worship Service at 10:30. Cathleen F. Melvin will be the morning speaker. All women are asked to wear white if possible.

— New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in the Lisbon Community wlil host a Mother’s Day/Women’s Day service at 11 a.m. The guest speaker will be Minsiter Ryner.

May 13

— Pushing Back the Dark, a county youth event, will be held at Elizabethtown Middle School from 7 p.m. until midnight. The Justin Teseniar Band will be in concert. There will be a guest speaker and food. Everything is free and all youth are invited. Please contact the Bladen Baptist Association at 910-862-3496 for additional information.

May 14

— The Mt. Olive Mass Choir will be sponsoring Joy Night service at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion church, Pastor Haywood Oliver at 6 p.m. Several choirs and praise team dancers will be on program. We are inviting everyone to come out and let’s have a joyous time in the Lord. Mt. Olive AME Zion Church is located at 32 Mt. Olive Road in Elizabethtown.

— St. John AME Zion Church will host a breakfast plate sale in the cafeteria from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost of plates will be $6. For more information call 910-872-1673.

May 15

— Center Road Baptist Church will host its second annual Law Enforcement Sunday. We invite all law enforcement officers and their families to worship with us and stay for lunch.

— Women’s Day will be observed at Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Council at 11 a.m. Guests will be the Rev. Pia Jessup and Miller Chapel AME Zion Church of Garland. Everyone is invited to attend.

— Salem Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, located at 9494 Mercer Mill Brown Marsh Road in Clarkton, will have their 82nd Homecoming. There will be special music by Tina and Caitlin Davis, Rachel Sessoms, and Johnny Tyler beginning at 10 a.m. The guest speaker will be Reverend Cory Nance. Lunch will be served following the service in the fellowship hall. Everyone is invited.

May 21

— Whites Creek Missionary Baptist Church, located at 6838 Airport Road in Lisbon, will be having a Joy Night sponsored by all the choirs of of the church. Joy Night will consist of choirs and soloists coming together for a Gospel Good Time. Everyone is invited.

May 22

— The Rev. (retired) Robert Skirving, bishop of The Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina, will celebrate Holy Eucharist at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 2606 West Broad St., Elizabethtown,at 10:30 a.m. Please join us in celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ.

June 5

— Center Road Baptist Church’s annual VBS will start today and run daily through Thursday, June 9. A meal will be served each night beginning at 5:3 p.m. An adult class will be taught by the Rev. David Rutland for ages 18 and above. This year’s theme is “Submerged.”

— Tar Heel Baptist Church will have VBS through Friday the 10th. There will be a meal served at 6 p.m each night. There will be Bible Study, games, crafts, music, and water slides for kids and youth. There will be Bible Study and crafts for the adults. Friday night will be our VBS celebration where parents can come enjoy dinner and see what their kids have learned through Bible Study, music, crafts, and recreation all week. Everyone is invited and transportation is available.

June 18

— Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church will be having a church bazaar starting at 7 a.m. Different items will be available, along with food and bounce houses for the kids. Please stop by at 32 Mt. Olive Church Road in Elizabethtown. The event will be held across from the church.
