DUBLIN — West Bladen got goals from four different players and handed visiting Purnell Swett a season-opening, non-conference 7-1 loss on Monday.

The Rams opened the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute, but the Knights answered eight minutes later when Ray Jones booted home a goal to knot the match at 1-1.

It didn’t stay that way long.

Six minutes later, Seth Britt scored a goal that gave West Bladen a lead it would not give up. Jorchael Gonzalez followed with a goal three minutes later for a 3-1 Knights advantage that took the teams to halftime.

In the second half, Victor Lopez tallied a goal for West Bladen early for a 4-1 lead and five minutes later Lopez got his second goal of the match to extend the lead to 5-1.

The Knights then scored a quick pair of goals — in the 54th minute by Gonzalez and in the 55th minute by Britt.

None of the goals on Monday were assisted.

The win snaps a 20-match losing streak by West Bladen. The Knights finished last season at 2-20 overall and 0-14 in the Four County Conference.

West Bladen faces St. Pauls on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
