FAYETTEVILLE — Kyle Tatum, the East Bladen senior catcher and Four County Conference Player of the Year, was named to The Fayetteville Observer’s All-Cape Fear Region Baseball Team on Sunday.

Tatum, who batted .625 for the Eagles with 34 runs batted in and 33 runs scored, also had eight doubles, two triples and a home run. He recently signed to play his collegiate baseball at Brunswick Community College.

A four-year starter for East Bladen, Tatum helped lead the Eagles to a 15-8 overall mark and 11-3 record in the conference.

Other area players on the All-Cape Fear Region team included:

— MacKenzie Gore, a pitcher from Whiteville, was named the Player of the Year. Gore is also the Gatorade National Player of the Year.

— Seth Thorndyke, a catcher, pitcher and third-baseman for Fairmont, was named to the second team.

— Jacob Oxendine, an infielder and pitcher from St. Pauls, was named to the second team.
