DUBLIN — West Bladen’s singles players put the Lady Knights on the brink of a Three Rivers Conference win Tuesday, and the doubles duos swept their matches to seal up a 7-2 win over visiting Whiteville.

The win improved West Bladen to a perfect 6-0 over all and in the conference.

The lady Wolfpack took wins at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, but Savannah Lee gave the lady Knights a hard-fought 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 2 — followed by wins at No. 4 by Autumn Brisson, 6-1 and 6-0; No. 5 by Mireya Sandoval, 6-1 and 6-0; and No. 6 by Alyssa Smith in a marathon, 6-4, 5-7 (10-6 tie-breaker).

In doubles, West Bladen battled for three wins — Conner Brisson and Lee teamed for an 8-6 win at No. 1; Helen Lopez and Autumn Brisson earned an 8-6 win at No. 2; and the Sandoval/Smith tandem took an 8-0 whitewash win at No. 3.

“It was a great match,” said West Bladen coach Mary White. “Not a lot to say, but that they played with a lot of heart.”

— In Dublin on Tuesday, the visiting Lady Wolfpack of Whiteville earned a three-game sweep against West Bladen in a Three Rivers Conference match by the scores of 25-10, 25-6 and 25-11.

The loss drops the lady Knights to 0-7 overall, 0-5 in the conference.

Raegan Davis led West Bladen with five kills and a block; Lexie Corrothers had three kills; Elizabeth Allbright had three kills; Patience Parker had a kill.

– In Elizabethtown on Tuesday, visiting Fairmont knocked off host East Bladen in straights sets for a 25-9, 25-16 and 25-19 Three Rivers Conference win.

The Lady Eagles fall to 1-6 overall, 1-4 in the conference.
