Eagles, Knights win conference soccer matches

LAKE WACCAMAW — Greyson Huestess tallied a hat trick with three goals and Pierce Melvin added a pair of goals to lead East Bladen past host East Columbus in a Three Rivers Conference soccer match on Monday.

The Eagles scored four goals in the first half, then added five more in the second half to seal the win.

Also scoring for East Bladen was Gabe Barber, Jake Evans, Caleb Hatchell and Garrett Melvin.

Brooks McGill assisted on three Eagles goals, while Evans, Heustess and Hatchell had an assist each. Melvin added a pair of assists in the win.

Evans led East Bladen with 15 steals in the match, while the Eagles’ trio of Ezequiel Arteaga, Keshaun Davis and Melvin each had 12 steals. The threesome of Barber, McGill and Heustess each added 10 steals to the East Bladen total of 126.

The Eagles had a corner kick advantage of 15-2.


West wins, 3-2


In Dublin on Monday, the Knights scored three goals in the first half and then held off visiting Red Springs for a 3-2 Three Rivers Conference win.

West Bladen got a pair of goals from Joseph Masaid and one from Victor Lopez.

The Red Devils tallied a pair of goals in the second half.
