West whips East; Eagles beat St. Pauls

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Knights remained undefeated on the tennis courts Wednesday with an 8-1 win over county rival East Bladen in a Three Rivers Conference match.

West Bladen swept the six singles matches — Conner Brisson won 8-3 at No. 1; Savannah Lee took an 8-0 win at No. 2; Helen Lopez earned an 8-1 win at No. 3; Autumn Brisson won 8-0 at No. 4; Mireya Sandoval took an 8-0 win at No. 5; and Alyssa Smith won 8-2 at No. 6.

In doubles, the West duo of Conner Brisson and Lee earned an 8-3 win at No. 1; and the team of Sandoval and Smith got an 8-0 win at No. 3

East Bladen got its lone point in doubles when the No. 2 team of Anna Kate White and Lily Lin took a hard-fought 8-6 win.


Eagles whip St. Pauls, 7-1


— In St. Pauls on Wednesday, Pierce Melvin and Jake Evans each scored a pair of goals to lead East Bladen past the Bulldogs, 7-1, in a Three Rivers Conference match.

The Eagles took a 3-0 advantage into halftime before outscoring St. Pauls 4-1 in the second half.

Gabe Barber, Caleb Hatchell and Irvin Hernandez each tallied a single goal for East Bladen. Bryan Monroe had two assists for the Eagles, while Gabe Barber, Jacob Barber, Evans and Melvin each had single assists. Melvin also had 15 steals in the match to lead East Bladen.
