ELIZABETHTOWN –In their regular-season finale Tuesday, the Lady Knights and Lady Eagles battled through four games before host West Bladen earned a Three Rivers Conference victory over their cross-county rivals.

The Lady Knights opened the match with a hard-fought 25-23 win, then took a 2-0 lead with a convincing 25-12 win in the second game. But East Bladen bounced back and took the third game, 25-15, to pull within 2-1.

West Bladen responded by rallying against the pesky Lady Eagles for a 28-26 win in the fourth game that sealed the match.

“This was a hard fought game,” said West Bladen coach Gaye Davis. “My seniors wanted to finish their season with a win. The difference tonight was serves. We had some tough points down the stretch. We were down 24-18 in the fourth set, and we kept our service and tied them.

“I am so happy and proud of all the girls,” she added. “The growth they have shown from Aug. 1 until now is incredible. It was a total team effort. It took hard work from all nine girls to get the win.”
