Brisson, Lee advance to third round in tennis playoffs

GOLDSBORO –The Lady Knights’ doubles tennis tandem of Conner Brisson and Savannah Lee have moved into the third round of the state’s Class 2-A Mid-East Regionals after a pair of victories on Friday at Herman Park in Goldsboro.

First up across the court for West Bladen was a duo from South Granville, and the Lady Knights quickly dispatched the Lady Vikings team by the scores of 6-2 and 6-0.

Next up on the other side of the net for West Bladen was a pair of Lady Wildcats from Eastern Randolph. Once again, it took minimal time to push their opponent aside, as Brisson and Lee took the match by the scores of 6-1 and 6-1.

On Saturday, the West Bladen duo will face their stiffest test in the doubles tournament when they take on a team from N.C. School of Science & Math in the third round.

Lady Eagles fall

The East Bladen pair of Jayme LeeAnn Frady and Ting Lin found the going a bit tougher on Friday in Goldboro when they fell to a team from Bartlett Yancey in the first round by the scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

It was the Lady Eagles’ first regional berth of any kind on school history.
