The varsity football programs at East Bladen and West Bladen combined to place 22 players on the All-Three Rivers Conference team, with 10 getting tabbed for the first team and 12 for the honorable mention team.
But the top spot went to East Bladen coach Robby Priest, who was named Co-Coach of the Year along with Russell Dover of South Columbus and Luke Little of Whiteville.
Priest and his staff led the Eagles to a 12-2 mark overall this season, while South Columbus also finished 12-2 and Whiteville finished 11-2. The three teams knotted with 8-1 records to share the Three Rivers Conference title.
The Eagles, Stallions and Wolfpack each had seven players named to the conference’s first team, and another eight players named to the honorable mention team.
All seven of the Eagles tabbed for the first team are seniors. They are: Xavier Wooten, Xavia McDowell, Sincere Smith, Caleb Strait, Lahkeyd Lesane, Tanner Meares and Davonta McIver.
On the honorable mention were: seniors Quinton Bedsole, B.J. Robinson, Adonis Avery, Tyrone Smith; and juniors Eric Chancy, Shy Pone and Dayveon Washington; and sophomore Jordan Stanley.
The Knights had three players selected to the conference’s first team, and all three are seniors: They are: B.J. Drake, Jonathan Robinson and Dayveon Swindell.
On the honorable mention team, West Bladen had four selections: seniors Jalen Drew and Bryan Haro; junior Kerron Washington; and sophomore Tyre Boykin.
