Lady Knights hold off Union, 43-36

DUBLIN — The Lady Knights got out of the gate quickly Wednesday, then held on to hold off visiting Union for a non-conference, 43-36 win.

West Bladen improved to 1-3 overall with the win.

The Lady Knights opened the game with a 12-2 run and went on to build a 14-6 lead after the first frame.

Union battled back before halftime, using a 6-3 run to pull within five, but West Bladen took a 26-20 advantage into halftime.

Scoring was at a premium in the third quarter as the defenses came to life. A pair of free throws by Chasitty Lacey to finish the period was the difference as West Bladen outscored Union by an 8-6 margin and took a 34-26 edge into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Spartans managed to close the gap to 40-36 using a 10-6 spurt, but West Bladen closed the game with a mini 3-0 run to seal the victory.

Elizabeth Allbright led the Lady Knights with nine points and seven rebounds, while Patience Parker added eight points and three steals. Kasee Singletary had six steals and Nyasia Ellison grabbed 12 rebounds for West Bladen.
