ELIZABETHTOWN — The Eagles and Scorpions of North Brunswick battled back and forth for three quarters before the visitors used a 28-15 run through the fourth frame to upend East Bladen, 68-52, in a non-conference game Wednesday.
The loss drops the Eagles to 0-5.
Sincere Smith scored six points and the Eagles also got four points from Keshaun Davis and a three-pointer from Messiah Leach to take a slim 13-11 after the first quarter. Smith fired in six more points in the second stanza to help East Bladen take a 23-22 advantage into halftime.
But North Brunswick began its rally in the third quarter when the Scorpions outscored East Bladen by an 18-14 margin and carried a 40-37 edge into the final 8 minutes.
Davis and Adonis Avery each drained a three-pointer for the Eagles, but the Scorpions raced through the quarter with a 13-point advantage to seal the win.
Smith led East Bladen with 14 points — 12 in the first half — and Avery added 13 points.
