ELIZABETHTOWN — Visiting Fairmont used a 21-point second quarter to fuel a 70-57 win over East Bladen in a Three Rivers Conference win on Friday.

The loss drops the Eagles to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

The Golden Hurricanes jumped out to a 14-9 advantage in the first quarter and turned up the momentum in the second stanza, outscoring the Eagles by a 21-15 margin to take a 35-24 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Fairmont continued to dominate in the second half, using a 16-12 third quarter to extend the visitors’ lead to 51-36 after three quarters of play.

Adonis Avery gave East Bladen hope over the final 8 minutes with three buckets and a three-pointer, leading the Eagles to a 21-19 advantage in the quarter — far from enough to keep the Golden Hurricanes from wrapping up the 13-point win.

Avery led East Bladen with 22 points behind a pair of three-pointers, while Sincere Smith contributed 12 points and Messiah Leach added 11 points with two three-pointers.

The Eagles will host St. Pauls in a conference game on Monday at 8 p.m.
