ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Eagles weren’t as precise Monday on either ends of the court as they were last week when they dismantled Fairmont by 40 points, but what they had was enough to knock off visiting St. Pauls in a Three Rivers Conference tilt, 46-34.

The win improved East Bladen to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

The Lady Eagles worked for a 12-7 run through the first quarter, then padded the advantage with a 10-5 run through the second quarter to open a 22-12 lead going into halftime.

East Bladen used an 11-7 win in the third quarter to extend its lead to 33-19 heading into the final 8 minutes of play — and that’s when both offenses caught fire. The lady Bulldogs won the quarter by a 17-13 margin, but couldn’t catch East Bladen.

“We took some backward steps,” East Bladen coach patty Evers said, “but we will regroup and move forward as always.”

Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson carried the lady eagles with 22 points, while Erica McKoy and Patience Ward each scored eight points.
