ROSE HILL —The Lady Eagles clawed and scratched out a hard-fought Four County Conference win on Tuesday at Union High by the scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 27-25.

The win improved East Bladen to 5-7 overall and 2-4 in conference.

Hannah DeVane led the Lady Eagles with 11 service winners, while Lacey Suggs added eight service points with three aces and four kills. Miller Heustess had 13 assists in the win with three kils, and Lexie Mendell whalloped nine kills.

Volleyball: West falls in three

In Dublin, West Bladen’s volleyball girls ran into a tough Four County Conference foe on Tuesday when they hosted Midway and fell in straight sets by the scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-13.

“These were tough ones,” said Lady Knights cpoach Gaye Davis. “Midway has really great teams that can cover the floor and get to all the balls.”

Nobody filled up the stat sheet, but Logan Autry led West Bladen with four service winners and Kassidy Anderson had three. Anderson also contributed three kills, while Autry and Morgan Schumacher each had two. Kathryn Schultz had three blocks.

Soccer: Knights win, 6-1

West Bladen put an end to its five-match losing streak with a 6-1 non-conference win over West Columbus on Tuesday in Cerro Gordo.

The Knights, who improved to 3-6-2 overall, got goals from six different players — Seth Britt, Caleb Johnson, Victor Lopez, Jorcahel Monroy, Irvin Hernandez-Ortiz and Jose Garcia-Lopez.

West Bladen last played the Vikings on Sept. 27 and came away with a 4-4 knot.
