DUBLIN — A big run in the second half by visiting West Columbus proved to be the difference Wednesday, as the Lady Vikings knocked off West Bladen in a Three Rivers Conference game, 43-28.
The loss drops the Lady Knights to 5-14 overall, 3-11 in the conference.
Once again playing with an injury-depleted roster, West Bladen managed to keep things close early. West Columbus opened a 9-6 lead after the first quarter, but a 10-7 run by the visitors in the second quarter opened a 19-13 advantage by halftime.
A bucket by Conner Brisson to open the third quarter pulled the Lady Knights within four, but the Lady Vikings went on a 14-0 burst that created a 33-15 lead West Bladen never recovered from.
The Lady Knights managed to outscore the visitors 13-10 down the stretch.
“Same thing, different day,” said West Bladen coach Brian McCleney. “The effort is there but we don’t have enough bodies.”
Scjada Ellison led West Bladen with eight points; Patience Parker scored six points; and Brisson had five points.
The Lady Knights will host St. Pauls in a conference game Friday at 6 p.m.
