DUBLIN — Chasitty Lacey scored 15 points, Elizabeth Allbright hit important fourth-quarter free throws and helped rally West Bladen past visiting Fairmont, 58-54, on Wednesday in a Three Rivers Conference game.

The win improved the Lady Knights to 7-15 overall, 5-12 in the conference.

The two teams battled almost evenly through the first quarter, but West Bladen took a slim 13-12 edge into the second stanza. Seniah Johnson scored four points in the period for the lady Knights.

The lady Golden Tornadoes, however, went on an 18-13 run through the quarter and took a 30-26 lead into the intermission. Lacey and Patience Parker each drained a three-pointer for West Bladen before halftime.

Lacey connected on another three-pointer in the third quarter and scored eight points in the period, but found itself battling back from an 11-point and eight-point deficit in the quarter. Fairmont carried a 45-41 lead into the final quarter.

The Lady Knights rallied hard through the final eight minutes, with Allbright and Lexie Corrothers each canning three free throws along the way to fuel a 17-9 burst that sealed the win.

“It was a good, hard-fought win …” West Bladen coach Brian McCleney said. “Had some big baskets in the third by Lexie and Chasitty, and Elizabeth’s free throws in the fourth were big.”

Lacey’s 15 points led the Lady Knights, while Corrothers added eight points and Allbright had seven.
