Knights fall to St. Pauls in tennis

ST. PAULS — Blustery, chilly weather and a tough Bulldogs boys tennis team proved too much for visiting West Bladen on Wednesday, as the Knights fell in the Three Rivers Conference match, 8-1.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Jose Osorio and Desmond Lesesne earn West Bladen’s lone point with an 8-5 victory.

“They are a great team and play well together,” said Knights coach Mary White. “Lesesne is 6-4 and excellent at the net, while Osorio’s serves and returns were unstoppable.”

Osorio and Lesesne each dropped close singles matches — Osorio falling 4-6 and 5-7 at No. 1, and Lesesne losing a 6-4, 4-6 and 7-10 decision at No. 4.

“I applaud their efforts in such challenging weather,” White said. “It was certainly not fun for anyone to be outside yesterday but they did their very best despite the harsh conditions.”
