SOCCER: Lady Eagles shut out East Columbus

LAKE WACCAMAW — Hannah Devane scored a trio of goals for a hat trick Friday and helped lead visiting East Bladen past East Columbus, 9-0, in a Three Rivers Conference soccer match.

The Lady Eagles used a stiff, pesky defense — recording 120 steals — to keep the Lady Gators away from the net.

Meanwhile, East Bladen but together a 6-0 lead by halftime, then sealed the win with three goals in the second half.

Devane added a pair of assists to her evening, along with nine steals; Ashley Hardin scored two goals and was credited with four assists as well as 15 steals; Katie Evans scored twice and added 12 steals; Patience Ward scored a goal, had an assist and nine steals; Ashton Magby scored a goal; Gracyn Martin had an assist and 10 steals; Sara Gargala had 18 steals; and Kenia Medina had 12 steals.

The Lady Eagles are now 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the conference. They will host Whiteville on Monday in a conference match.
