ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Eagles used a stiff defense and got two goals from Hannah Devane to knock off visiting Class 4-A Scotland County on Thursday, 2-1.

The win improved East Bladen to 8-0 overall this season.

The Lady Scots and Lady Eagles traded first-half goals — Devane booted home her first goal less than 10 minutes into the non-conference match off assists from Ashley Hardin and Patience Ward — and the two teams went into halftime knotted at 1-1.

The score stayed tied through 35 minutes of the second half before Devane found the back of the net with her second goal, this one off an assist from Ward that gave East Bladen the win.

The Lady Eagles recorded 143 steals in the match, led by the trio of Cybil Campbell, Gracyn Martin and Hardin with 15 each. Devane contributed 14 steals; Sarah Johnson and Kenia Medina each had 12; Ashton Magby had 11; while Katie Evans and Ward each had 10.

East Bladen had a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal and a 5-2 margin in corner kicks.

After the spring break, the Lady Eagles will return to the pitch for a Three Rivers Conference match at West Bladen on April 10.
