DUBLIN — Visiting East Bladen outshot cross-county conference rival West Bladen by a whopping 41-0 margin on Wednesday, scoring four goals in each half to earn an 8-0 Three Rivers Conference soccer win.
The victory improved the Lady Eagles to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in the conference; the Lady Knights fell to 1-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
Ashley Hardin fired home five goals for East Bladen for the hat-trick plus, while teammate Hannah Devan got the straight hat trick with a trio of goals. Hardin also contributed a pair of assists and 13 steals in the match, while Devane had one assist and eight steals.
Also putting up assists for East Bladen were Sara Gargala, Katie Evans, Patience Ward and Kenia Medina.
The Lady Eagles totaled 138 steals in the match, and Gargala was the top thief with 15 steals — Evans and Izzy Smith were credited with 13 steals each, while Medina and Sarah Johnson each had 12. Cybil Campbell added 11 steals and Gracyn Martin had 10.
East Bladen used a 10-1 advantage in corner kicks to keep pressure on the West Bladen end of the pitch, a Lady Eagles netminder Ting Lin earned the shutout win without facing a Lady Knights shot on goal.
After a conference match Thursday in St. Pauls, the Lady Eagles will go on the road again Tuesday for a conference match in Tabor City against South Columbus at 5 p.m.
West Bladen faced South Columbus in a conference tilt on Thursday and were scheduled for a non-conference match in Teachey on Tuesday against Wallace-Rose Hill at 5:30 p.m.
