LAKE WACCAMAW — West Bladen got a top-notch pitching effort from Scott Bowen and a balanced offensive attack Friday as the Knights went on the road and took a 4-2 Three Rivers Conference win from east Columbus.
The win improved West Bladen to 2-13 0verall, 2-10 in the conference.
Nolan Bryant gave the Knights a 1-0 lead in the top of the second when he walked, stole a base and came home on a passed ball. Moments later, Trey Storms worked a walk and came around on an RBI single by Dawson Bryant for a 2-0 edge.
In the third, Bowen smoked a lead-off double and Jake Butler ripped a run-scoring double for a 3-0 advantage.
Bryan got the Knights going in the fourth with a walk, stole second and came home on an RBI single by Logan West.
The Gators’ offense showed some life in the sixth, scoring two runs to cut the margin in half, but nothing more materialized for the home team.
Bowen earned the win on the mound, going six innings and giving up just three hits, four walks, one hit batter and struck out nine. Bryant finished up to gain the save for West Bladen.
At the plate, Bowen was 2-for-2 with a d0uble; Butler had an RBI double;Bryan had an RBI’ and West had an RBI.
The Knights will host South Robeson on Tuesday in a conference tilt at 7 p.m.
