CERRO GORDO — The Lady Eagles belted 14 hits, including four doubles, and Kayleigh Raynor twirled a six-hitter as East Bladen knocked off West Columbus on Tuesday, 6-2, in a Three Rivers Conference game.
“We played very well as a team,” said East Bladen coach Chase Lancaster. “No errors was great to see.”
The Lady Eagles jumped on the scoreboard first with a pair of runs in the top of the first behind a single by Erica McKoy, double by Johanna Parker and two-run double by Alyssa Futrell.
West Columbus got a lead-off triple, but East Bladen snuffed out the threat when the runner kept coming and was thrown out by Raynor at the plate.
The lead grew to 5-0 in the second when East Bladen plated a trio of runs on a two-run double by Raynor and a wild pitch that gave the Lady Eagles a 5-0 advantage.
Consecutive singles by Anna Kate White and Faith Johnson got things going for East Bladen in the third, and, after a walk to Lorna Mendell, Abbie Cross dribbled an infield hit for an RBI and a 6-0 lead.
The Lady Vikings plated a run in the fourth and added a run in the sixth.
Raynor twirled the complete-game win in the circle, giving up the six hits and striking out eight. She also had a double and two RBI at the plate for East Bladen.
Cross led the lady eagles at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI; McKoy was 2-for-3; Futrell had two doubles and two RBI; Johnson was 2-for-4; and Parker had a double.
East Bladen will have a conference game at Fairmont on Friday at 6 p.m.
