Lady Eagles blank West Columbus, 2-0

CERRO GORDO — A banged-up Lady Eagles squad used a tight defense and got stellar play in the nets on Friday to get past a pesky West Columbus team, 2-0.

The Three Rivers Conference win kept East Bladen perfect at 15-0 overall and 12-0 in the conference.

Hannah Devane scored a goal off an assist from Patience Ward, and Kenia Medina booted home a goal off a feed from Devane for the Lady Eagles.

East Bladen took a 1-0 lead into halftime, then added a goal in tye second half to help seal the win.

On defense, the Lady Eagles totaled 119 steals in the match, and were led by Medina with 15, Katie Evans and Lily Lin with 14 each, Devane with 13, Ward with 11, and the duoof Cybil Campbell and Gracyn Martin with 10 each.

In goal, Ting Lin faced six shots on goal and was credited with three saves to earn the shutout. East Bladen outshot te Lady Vikings by a 13-6 margin, and the Lady eagles had a 4-1 advantage in corners.

East Bladen was playing without a number of players due to injuries, including Ashley Hardin and Sara Gargala.

The lady Eagles will host Red Springs on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in a conference match.
