ELIZABETHTOWN — The Lady Eagles made short work of visiting West Bladen on Friday in the Three Rivers Conference regular-season finale, as well as put a quick exclamation mark on a perfect, history making season with an 11-0 win in less than one-half of play.
East Bladen finished the conference season at 14-0 and are 17-0 overall as the state’s Class 2-A playoffs loom.
A trio of Lady Eagles tallied hat tricks in the match — Katie Evans, Kenia Medina and Patience Ward — each scoring three goals over the first 40 minutes play.
Medina notched her first goal early in the game off a feed from Hannah Devane. Almost instantly, Ward went solo and booted home her first goal.
In the blink of an eye, East Bladen went up 3-0 when Evans scored off Devane’s second assist, and moments later Ward scored again on a pass from Lily Lin to give the Lady Eagles a 4-0 lead less than 5 minutes into the match.
A few minutes later, Devane scored a goal on an assist from Evans and, less than a minute later, Evans scored off a feed from Devane for a 6-0 lead.
A scoring lull lasted about 14 minutes before Ward captured a bounding ball and beat the Lady Knights’ net-minder for her third goal and a 7-0 East Bladen advantage.
Moments later, Medina scored off a feed from Devane to up the margin to 8-0 and, seconds later, Evans booted a goal home for a 9-0 lead.
As the match moved into the final 10 minutes, Izzy Smith rocketed a shot to the back of the net after taking a pass from Evans, just ahead of Medina’s third goal 2 minutes later off a pass from Devane for the final score.
The Lady Eagles outshot West Bladen by a 24-1 margin and tallied 103 steals in just one half.
Aside from the three hat tricks, Devane had a goal and five assists; Evans had two assists; Medina had 15 steals; Gracyn Martin had 13 steals; Evans and Lin each had 11 steals; and Cybil Campbell had 10 steals.
The state playoff brackets were expected to be released on Monday.
