West Bladen to host girls soccer camp

DUBLIN — West Bladen High will host its first mini soccer camp for girls between the ages of 7 and 14 on July 23-25 from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Early registration is $30 per participant and includes a free T-shirt. Registration can be done by sending a check made out to WBHS Girls Soccer to Kristen Parker at Bladenboro Middle School, 910 S. Main St., Bladenboro N.C. 28320 by June 29 to ensure a T-shirt. Include child’s name, birthdate, address and T-shirt size along with parent’s name and phone number.

Registration will also be open July 23 at 7:30 a.m., but the cost is $40 and does not guarantee a T-shirt.

Lil’ Knights Basketball Camp set

DUBLIN — The Lil’ Knights basketball Camp will be held for boys and girl rising into first through eighth grades on July 10-12 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at West Bladen High.

Cost is $60 and includes basketball and T-shirt — but registration by June 20 is only $50.

The camp will include age-appropriate goals, skills and fundamentals from high school coaches and college players. Games will be played each day.

Summer sports camp is planned

ELIZABETHTOWN — A summer sports camp will be hosted by Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Holloway for the weeks of July 9-13 and Aug. 6-10.

The camp will be for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, and activities will include arts and crafts, bowling, basketball, hiking, music, skating, soccer, story telling, swimming and more.

Benefit golf tournament is July 14

FAYETTEVILLE — The Wyatt Fisher Benefit Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, July 14, at Gates Four Golf Course & Country Club.

Registration will be at 11:30 a.m. and a shotgun start will begin at 1 p.m.

Entry fee is $75 per golfer or $300 per team — included will be lunch, goody bag, greens fee, cart and unlimited range balls. The format will be a Captain’s Choice.

Hole sponsors are available for $100; corporate sponsorships are $500.

WB volleyball tryouts, open gym set

DUBLIN — Tryouts for the Lady Knights volleyball teams will be July 30-31 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the high school. Those interested must be present both days.

Open gym days are not mandatory, but players are encouraged to attend as many as possible. Players must have an updated physical to attend open gyms; middle school girls from grades six to eight can attend these dates also with an updated physical.

The open gym dates are: June 18, 5:30 to 7 p.m.; June 25, 5:30 to 7 p.m.; and June 27, 9 to 10:30 a.m.
