ELIZABETHTOWN — Playing their first game in nearly two weeks, thanks to Mother Nature’s water works, the Eagles of East Bladen took it on the chin against visiting West Columbus on Monday, 5-1.

The loss evens the Eagles’ Dixie Pre-Majors summer season record at 1-1.

Alex Coates hurled two scoreless innings on the hill for East Bladen, followed by two more scoreless innings by Sincere Smith. But the Vikings tallied five runs across the fifth, sixth and seventh innings against a pair of freshman pitchers to earn the win.

The Eagles rapped out seven hits in the loss, with Smith and Kyle Tatum getting two apiece.

East Bladen is scheduled to play a single game Tuesday at home against North Brunswick, then a double-header at home against Loris, S.C., on Thursday.
