East, West drop soccer matches

DUBLIN — The Bulldogs of Wallace-Rose Hill came to town on Monday and the Bulldogs showed why they are the defending Class 1-A state champions, pummeling West Bladen by a 9-0 margin.

Wallace-Rose Hill tallied five goals in the first half, then added four more in the second half to end the game on the nine-goal mercy rule.

The Knights fall to 4-11-2 overall and 1-8 with the loss, while the Bulldogs improved to 10-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the conference.

West Bladen will go on the road Wednesday to play against Heidi Trask.


Eagles also fall


In Elizabethtown on Monday, Clinton manufactured four goals in the first half, then added five more in the second half to easily run past East Bladen in a Four County Conference match, 9-1.

The Eagles fall to 5-10 overall and 2-7 in the conference, while the Dark Horses improved to 17-0-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

East Bladen goes on the road to face Pender County on Wednesday.
