WILMINGTON — The last chance for East Bladen High School fans to see former standout Lacey Suggs and her UNC Wilmington teammates at home is Sunday.

The Seahawks host Delaware in Trask Coliseum at 1 p.m.

Suggs is a junior captain for second-year head coach Karen Barefoot’s program. She’s risen from playing just seven minutes in three games as a freshman to being a two-time captain and this year has reset all of her career highs.

She scored 29 points in a win over Elon on Feb. 8 and is closing the season strong. In February alone, she’s reset personal game benchmarks for points, minutes, field goals made and attempted, 3-pointers made and attempted, free throws made and attempted, rebounds and blocks.

Suggs shoots 48.5 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent on 3-pointers, 70.5 percent at the foul line in averaging 10.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

UNCW finishes the season at Northeastern and Hofstra next weekend, and at College of Charleston on March 8. The Colonial Athletic Association Tournament will be hosted by Delaware March 13-16.

The Seahawks, at 15-10 and 8-6 in the CAA, are a candidate for the postseason. In addition to the NCAA Tournament, there is the Women’s National Invitational Tournament, 10th annual Women’s Basketball Invitational and the College Basketball Invitational.
