SHALLOTTE — Two days into the Easter holiday softball tournament hosted by West Brunswick, East Bladen remains in search of its first run.

The Lady Eagles were held to one hit on Tuesday and were turned back by 4-A Richmond County 18-0 in five innings. The Lady Raiders scored eight in each of the second and third innings.

Junior Abbie Cross singled in the top of the fifth inning after sophomore Carlie West drew a two-out walk to break up a perfect game by Greyson Way. Eight of 15 outs were by strikeout against Way.

Payton Chappell hit a grand slam for Richmond County. Way, Kayla Hawkins and Taylor Parrish also homered.

East Bladen’s final outing is Wednesday at 10 a.m. against 4-A Northwest Guilford. The Lady Eagles are 6-12 with a three-game skid.
