WHITE LAKE — With a score of 18-under-par 54, the foursome representing Melvin’s ruled the third annual Rotary International Cup last Friday.

The Elizabethtown Rotary’s fundraiser benefits students with scholarships. The captain’s choice event among a record 16 teams was staged on the well-manicured, 6,430-yard Vineyard Golf at White Lake layout.

Members of the winning team included Blake Baysden, Jonathan Gooden, Luke Gooden and Carlton Floyd.

Second place went to the Eddie White Insurance team, which shot 57. Members of the team were Blake Yandle, James Monroe, Duston Melvin and Mark Mendell.

Next were Melton’s, Nissan of Clinton and David Coble Team, all with 61s; McDuffie Pest Control, 62; and Bladen Express Lube & Tire, 63.

In the second flight, Team White team prevailed in a scorecard playoff over the Cathy and Jim Gantz team. Each shot 64, with Team White having a birdie on No. 10 to a par for the Gantz foursome. Team White included Mike White, Bobby Dove, Bobby Davis and Terry Strickland. The Gantz team included Cathy Gantz, Jim Gantz, Pam Davis and Jimmy Davis.

Next was Lumberton Chevrolet and Cape Fear Heating & Cooling, with 65s; Bladen Journal, 67; Farm Bureau and Compass Power, each with a 68; Bladen County Schools, 73; and Health Works, 75.
