ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen rolled past Fairmont 7-2 in girls high school tennis Tuesday afternoon at Bladen County Park.

Junior Lily Lin, playing her first match at No. 1 singles, led the triumph with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sierra Britt. The Lady Eagles, shifted from their friendly confines on campus while courts are resurfaced, swept the doubles and ruled the fourth, fifth and sixth positions of singles in a show of better depth.

This was a nonconference match between the Three Rivers Conference members. East Bladen (1-0) opens league play at South Columbus on Tuesday.

Lin and junior Alyssa Futrell turned back Britt-Vanessa Zavala Cruz 8-1 at No. 1 doubles. Junior Carlie West-sophomore Heather Hardin prevailed 8-6 over Jasmin Velazquez Tolentino-Jennifer Garcia at No. 2, and senior Gracyn Martin-junior Hannah Wheless shut out Justine Dukes-Maya McMullen 8-0 at No. 3.

In singles, Martin defeated Garcia 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4, Hardin bested Dukes 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5 and sophomore Jayden Willington downed Evelin De la Cruz 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6. Futrell was denied by Tolentino 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 and West was clipped by Cruz 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3.
