Girls basketball
• Head coach: Brian McCleney (3rd year, 22-28).
• Last year: Fourth in Three Rivers Conference, 15-11 overall.
• Top returners: Kasee Singletary, Lexie Corrothers, Mikayla Meadows, Haley George.
• McCleney: “I think we can do well if we can avoid injuries. This has hurt us late the past two seasons.”
• League: McCleney says, “I feel East Bladen is always tough. But Whiteville and St. Pauls return some very talented players. Should be a good race.”
• Dates: Season opens Monday at Midway. East Bladen-West Bladen dates are Jan. 27 and Feb. 14. The Lady Knights do not play in a holiday tournament and have only 21 playing dates.
