GREENVILLE — East Carolina’s football opponents for 2020 and 2021 has been finalized with an announcement Monday on how the American Athletic Conference is moving forward without Connecticut.

The Huskies are leaving the league after this year. For the next two years, the AAC will not have a divisional format. How it determines the championship game participants will be announced at a later date.

ECU will play home games against Central Florida, Navy, Southern Methodist and Tulane in 2020. Road tests are at Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple and Tulsa. Houston and Memphis will not be opponents.

The Pirates, in 2021, will play home games against Cincinnati, South Florida, Temple and Tulane. Road contests are at Central Florida, Houston, Memphis and Navy. Southern Methodist and Tulsa will not be opponents.

Dates will be announced in February when the AAC makes its full schedule release.

Already known for ECU in 2020 are nonconference matchups Sept. 5 with Marshall and Sept. 19 with Norfolk State in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, and Sept. 12 at South Carolina and Oct. 3 at Georgia State.

Scheduled in 2021 for the Pirates are Sept. 4 versus Appalachian State in Charlotte, Sept. 11 at home with South Carolina and Sept. 25 at home with Charleston Southern. The Pirates visit Marshall on Sept. 18.
