RED SPRINGS — West Bladen and December basketball are a good match.

The Lady Knights won their eighth straight in the month, dating to last year, by turning back host Red Springs 44-11 on Friday in Three Rivers Conference girls high school basketball.

West Bladen moved to 2-0 in the league and 4-1 overall with its third win in four nights. The Lady Knights were 5-0 in December a year ago.

The Lady Red Devils are 0-2 in the Three Rivers and 0-5 overall, with seven consecutive losses dating to last year.

West Bladen put up its first shutout in a quarter, building a 21-7 halftime lead to 40-7 entering the final eight minutes.

Senior Elexis Corrothers scored in double figures for the fifth straight game, notching 17 points to lead the Lady Knights. Sophomore point guard Haley George reached double figures for the first time this year, tossing in 11, and senior Seniah Johnson added six. All three had season-highs in points.

Red Springs had just one player put the ball in the basket more than once; Jocelyn Maynor scored four points.
