DUBLIN — West Bladen’s Knights will be hosting the fourth annual Woodmen Life Christmas Tournament on Dec. 21-23.

“We are again happy to be hosting this event,” said West Bladen varsity coach Travis Pait. “The seven teams that will be joining us are all well coached and will certainly be contenders in their respective leagues. The level of competition will certainly help prepare all of the participants for conference play.

“We would like to thank Mr. Joe Walters and Woodmen Life for their participation as title sponsors of this event,” he added. “Woodmen is such a great organization who are always trying to give back to the community.”

Coming to The Castle at West Bladen to compete in the tournament will be Whiteville, Fairmont, East Columbus, East Bladen, Midway, Southern Lee and Hoke County.

Admission is $5 for everyone with no passes out. Concessions will be available. Two iPads will be raffled off during the tournament.

The tournament schedule is as follows:

— Saturday, Dec. 21

2 p.m. — East Columbus vs Hoke

4 p.m. — Southern Lee vs East Bladen

6 p.m. — Midway vs Fairmont

8 p.m. — West Bladen vs Whiteville

— Monday, Dec. 22

2 p.m. — Loser Game 1 vs Loser Game 2

4 p.m. — Loser Game 3 vs Loser Game 4

6 p.m. — Winner Game 1 vs Winner Game 2

8 p.m. — Winner Game 3 vs Winner Game 4

— Tuesday, Dec. 23

2 p.m. — Loser Game 5 vs Loser Game 6 (seventh-place game)

4 p.m. — Winner Game 5 vs Winner Game 6 (fifth-place game)

6 p.m. — Loser Game 7 vs Loser Game 8 (third-place game)

8 p.m. — Winner Game 7 vs Winner Game 8 (championship Game)

“Woodmen Life is very excited to be involved with an event like this that benefits so many young people,” said Joe Walters, Woodman Life manager. “All of the communities involved have a high rate of Woodmen members, which makes this a great venue for us to continue to actively strengthen our communities. We have for a long time seen the value of team sports on our young people. Many lessons are taught and learned during this time in our youth’s lives and Woodmen wants to be part of this process. We believe that this tournament gives us the chance to do just that.”

— East Bladen’s Lady Eagles will host a Holiday Classic Tournament on Dec. 21-22 and West Bladen’s Lady Knights will participate.

On the opening day, West Bladen will face North Brunswick at 5 p.m., followed by East Bladen hosting Whiteville at 6:30 p.m.

On the second day, West Bladen will take on Whiteville at 5 p.m., and East Bladen will play North Brunswick at 6:30 p.m.

— On Dec. 28-29, the Knights and Lady Knights will compete in the East Columbus Holiday Tournament. No pairings have been announced yet.
