ROCKY POINT –The Lady Eagles traveled to Rocky Point on Thursday and came away with a 3-0 Four County Conference win against Heidi Trask.

The win improved East Bladen to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference.

Maddie West scored what proved to be the game-winner just 4 minutes into the match after cashing in on a pass from Cassie Hill.

The Lady Eagles scored 10 minutes later for a 2-0 halftime advantage, then added an insurance goal in the first minute of the second half to seal the win.

Eagles whip Trask

Alex Coates fanned 12 Heidi Trask hitters and Kyle Tatum blasted a two-run home run to lead East Bladen to a 7-5 Four County Conference win over the Titans on Thursday.

The win improved the Eagles to 3-0 in the conference.

Heidi Trask took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, but East Bladen knotted things in the second behind a single by Ty Watkins and RBI double by Coates.

The Titans regained the lead with a run in the third, but East Bladen scored three two-out runs in the fourth frame when Coates ripped another RBI double, Quinton Bedsole smacked an RBI double and Sincere Smith laced an RBI single for a 4-2 lead.

Trask cut the deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the fourth, but East Bladen got the run back in the fifth when Tatum belted a triple and came home on a groundout by Nikita Owens.

The Titans tied the game in the fifth with two runs but, after a scoreless sixth inning, the Eagles sealed the win when Brooks McGill took a one-out walk and Tatum launched his home run to left.

Smith was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI to lead East Bladen, while Tatum was 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and two RBI. Coates finished 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI, and Bedsole had a double and RBI.

On the mound, Coates raised his record to 5-0 with a complete-game, nine-hitter and two walks.

Knights fall to South View

In Hope Mills on Thursday, the Knights ran into an undefeated South View team and couldn’t hand the Tigers their first loss of the season.

West Bladen earned two wins in singles and a single win on doubles, falling to 7-3 on the season. South View improved to 6-0.

Victor Jacome put the Knights on the board with a win at No. 1 singles, battling to a 6-4, 4-6 and 10-3 victory. Tate Sykes got the only other singles win for West Bladen, rallying for a 5-7, 6-1 and 11-9 win at No. 4.

In the doubles action, Sykes teamed up with Joseluis Osorio for an 8-5 win at No. 3 for the Knights.
