RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will replace a culvert damaged by Hurricane Matthew in Bladen County starting next month.

The Tara Group of Lumberton will replace the reinforced concrete box culvert on Owen Hill Road near N.C. 87, close to Dublin. The road has been closed since being washed out at the culvert location during the Oct. 8 hurricane. NCDOT staff determined the hydraulic needs of the road and decided a culvert replacement was needed.

Work is scheduled to begin the first week of March and should be complete no later than June 13.

Motorists are urged to use N.C. 87 as a detour route.
