ELIZABETHTOWN — The 19th annual “Made in the Shade” classic car and truck show on Saturday dodged some sprinkles and, at one point more serious rain, but still managed to attract good crowds throughout the day.

According to organizers, 93 cars entered the show, with 91 coming from around the state and two coming from the Sumter, S.C., area.

“The weather forecast hurt us,” said Wayne Edge, one of the organizers. “With a good day, we would have had at least double that number of cars. But it’s still a good show.”

Some of the proceeds from the show are given to the Bladen Journal’s annual Empty Stocking Fund at Christmas.
