Shooter reported barricaded in Dublin

DUBLIN — Bladen County sheriff’s deputies are working an active shooting reportedly along N.C. 410 in Dublin just north of Bladen Community College at about noon Tuesday.

According to information received, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from Nelson Brisson, who said his grandson, 20-year-old McKenzie Brisson, was acting erratic and wanted someone to go to his home. It was reported that the younger Brisson had gone to a doctor’s appointment on Monday and, in the last 24 hours, had consumed at least 40 pills of some kind.

Reports claim the shooter was barricaded in a residence near the intersection of Paul Brisson Road and N.C. 410, and fired shots at deputies. A SWAT team from Fayetteville was brought in for negotiations. Students at the community college were on lockdown, while West Bladen High and Dublin Primary lifted the precautionary shelter-in-places at about 2:50 p.m. Because the main roads around the incident were still barricaded, bus routes were adjusted.

We will continue to follow this story as details emerge.
