AMMON — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a ground search on Tuesday with the assistance of area law enforcement, EMS and fire services as they continue to look for a 53-year-old Garland woman missing since Dec. 7.

According to Major Larry Guyton, Judith Deaver Hyder of Oliver Lane in Garland was last seen by her room mate on Dec. 7 and reported her missing on Dec. 9.

“She said Judith was at the house when she left — they were friends and Judith had been staying there,” Guyton said. “Her car was found abandoned a couple of miles from where she was staying approximately a week after she was reported missing.

“Ground searches have been done around the house she was staying at and around where the car was found,” he added. “The search tomorrow will be an area where we have received information we need to look at. We did an air search Friday and again (Monday) and also searched with cadaver dogs.”

Hyder is described as 5-foot, 5-inches tall weighing about 200 pounds. She has hazel eyes and dark brown hair. There was no description of clothing available.

The Sheriff’s Office, Bladen County Emergency Services and volunteers from Ammon Fire Department, EMS and area law enforcement will be doing ground searches today in the Ammon area.
