CLINTON — The fourth-seeded Clinton Darkhorses advance to the next round after defeating the 29th-seeded East Duplin Panthers 7-0. The Darkhorses host the 13th-seeded Washington Pam Pack in the next round. The Pam Pack also won their first-round game by seven goals against their conference rivals North Pitt.
Midway
The 22nd-seeded Midway Raiders traveled away to the 11th-seeded East Carteret Mariners in a 4-nil victory. The Raiders scored four goals in the first half to help them coast into the next round of the playoffs. Midway awaits the winner of the Jordan-Mattews and South Onslow match to see who they will face next.
East Bladen
The 30th-seeded East Bladen Eagles traveled away to the third-seeded Manteo Redskins in a 4-nil defeat in the first round of the 2A NCHSAA State Playoffs. Manteo went ahead two goals at halftime before going on to score two more to get them into the next round. Jay Raynor and the Eagles finished the season at 8-10. Senior forward Malcolm Bolden led his team with 31 goals and 10 assists to stamp a good individual season. Manteo plays the 14th seed Wallace-Rose Hill on Thursday at home.
Wallace-Rose Hill
The 14th-seeded Wallace-Rose Hill Bulldogs hosted the 19th-seeded St. Pauls Bulldogs in a 1-nil overtime victory. St. Pauls’ season finished at 10-9-3 and was led by their senior Jorge Cabrera-Angeles in offensive production. Wallace-Rose Hill will travel away to Manteo for the next round.
