BLADENBORO —A Bladenboro man has been arrested and charged with the murder of a Dublin woman on Wednesday, according to Bladenboro Police Chief Chris Hunt.

Henry B. Spivey Jr., 39, of Brown Branch Road near Bladenboro, was arrested at about 12:19 p.m. Wednesday by a Bladen County sheriff’s deputy and N.C. State Highway Patrol trooper while sitting in a car on Butler Mill Road about 40 minutes after a shooting on Lewis Street in Bladenboro.

Hunt said three people were hot — including Deanna R. McGirt, 30, who died from her wounds on the way to Bladen Healthcare. Another victim, identified as Greg Kinlaw of Dublin, was shot multiple times and was airlifted to a medical facility where he was in stable by critical condition on Thursday. The third victim, identified as Jeffrey Tittle of Bladenboro, was shot in the hand and treated and released from Bladen Healthcare.

“Spivey was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, and firing into an occupied dwelling,” Hunt said.

Spivey is being held in the Bladen County Jail under a $310,000 secured bond.

Investigators say McGirt and Kinlaw were visiting a residence belonging to Tittle in Bladenboro to talk with another man about money owed and an argument started. Spivey reportedly left the residence but returned shortly after and began shooting.

The incident caused Bladenboro schools to be put on a precautionary lockdown by Bladen County Schools officials.
