ELIZABETHTOWN — Bladen County Schools will be closing at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, and will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.

The schools are closing because of Hurricane Dorian, which started moving up the southeastern coastline on Tuesday afternoon. Four of the schools are being used as shelters, which will open on Wednesday.

Third grade testing has been postponed, a news release from the school system said.

Shelters will open in Bladen County on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. in four locations.

One will be for special needs individuals, and one will be pet friendly.

The locations are:

• West Bladen High School, N.C. 410, Bladenboro. This shelter includes special needs accomodations.

• East Bladen High School, 5600 N.C. 87, Elizabethtown. This shelter is pet friendly.

• Bladen Lakes Elementary School, 9554 Johnsontown Road, Elizabethtown.

• East Arcadia School, 21451 N.C. 87, Riegelwood.
