ELIZABETHTOWN — Beverly Parks, the Bladen County register of deeds, said her office has implemented a new program to the benefit of citizens and real property owners.
Proptery Notification is free and available on a website that will send email to users when a name they have registered appears on a document filed in the office. To reach the website, go to the designation on the Register of Deeds homepage or the Register of Deeds land record search site.
The new program will allow citizens to sign up and be notified whenever a document with that name is filed, a release says. It is a way for family members to be aware and receive notifications as well. When the email from the office is sent to registered users, it will include the name matching, the date of filing, and the book and page reference. A link will also be provided to the image of the document on the Bladen County Register of Deeds land record search site.
In the release, Parks said, “We are pleased to offer this service free of charge to those impacted by documents filed in our office. I have heard reports that this type of activity is on the rise in North Carolina and across the nation. I feel that it is my responsibility, as Bladen County’s Register of Deeds, to take every step possible to protect the citizens and property owners of Bladen County. We hope that this new service will act as a deterrent to fraudulent activity in Bladen County. If there is fraudulent or otherwise inappropriate filing in our office, we hope that this timely notice to registered users will allow that fraud to be addressed quickly to mitigate any damages.”
