— Center Road Baptist Church’s annual VBS will start today and run daily through Thursday, June 9. A meal will be served each night beginning at 5:3 p.m. An adult class will be taught by the Rev. David Rutland for ages 18 and above. This year’s theme is “Submerged.”

— Tar Heel Baptist Church will have VBS through Friday the 10th. There will be a meal served at 6 p.m each night. There will be Bible Study, games, crafts, music, and water slides for kids and youth. There will be Bible Study and crafts for the adults. Friday night will be our VBS celebration where parents can come enjoy dinner and see what their kids have learned through Bible Study, music, crafts, and recreation all week. Everyone is invited and transportation is available.

— Clarkton Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church will host its 63rd annual homecoming. At 10 a.m. Jerri and Larry Mercer will share their talents of gospel singing; at 11 a.m. our guest speaker will be the Rev. Preston Heath of the PFWB Conference Headquarters in Dunn; at noon a covered dish lunch will be served in the Fellowship Hall. — New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Clarkton will celebrate its third annual Pastoral Anniversary for Pastor Harry Primus and First Lady Keteriah Primus starting at 11 a.m. Special guest at 11 a.m. will be Pastor Carl Smith of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church; special guest at 3 p.m. will be Pastor Q. Jimmel Williamson of Pleasant Union Missionary Baptist Church of East Arcadia. An old-fashioned dinner will be served after the morning service. For information, call the Rev. — Starting today and running through Aug. 13, Martin Chapel AME Zion Church on NC Hwy 53 West in Elizabethtown will host a Summer Enrichment Program for students entering the first through sixth grade from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Breakfast, lunch and snack provided; a field trip every week; Friday “splash day;” academic tutoring; youth mentoring; sports and recreation all will be available. — Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church will be having a church bazaar starting at 7 a.m. Different items will be available, along with food and bounce houses for the kids. Please stop by at 32 Mt. Olive Church Road in Elizabethtown. The event will be held across from the church.

— “Submerged” Vacation Bible School comes to Hickory Grove Baptist Church starting today through June 29 at 6 p.m. each day. We’ll enjoy Bible study, music, crafts, supper, and recreation. Classes are available for ages Babies – sixth grade, and parents and guests are also invited to join us nightly for our Worship Rally and fellowship supper. There will be a $25.00 Entry fee with $500.00 payout for Catfish with a minimum of 50 entries and 50/50 payout for Panfish. It will start at 5 p.m. with a meal and devotion.
