June 9

— A chicken and rice plate sale will by hosted by Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Bladenboro from 11 a.m. “until” as a fundraiser to benefit Jessica Allen Ludlum, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. There will also be bake sale items available. Cost is a donation.

— A Crazy Fun Color Run will be held at 9 a.m. at the Bladen County Industrial Park in Elizabethtown. The event benefits the Bladen County United Way.

June 10

— The annual Shaw-Elkins Family Reunion will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Lisbon Baptist Road, located at 4588 Lisbon Road, Clarkton. Please bring your favorite covered dish and join us for the meal beginning at 12:45 p.m.

June 12

— The Dublin Fire Protection District Board of Director and District Fire Commissioners will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Dublin Fire Station. The meeting will be for the discussion of fire protections needs of the district and needs of the Dublin Fire Department. The meeting is open to the public.

June 15

— — A Beginning Genealogy group meets at 1 p.m. at the Bladen County Senior Center, 608 McLeod St. in Elizabethtown. Bring a notebook and a pencil and we’ll embark on an enjoyable trip through time.

June 16

— The Baltimore Community Center will host an Out of School Cookout with many activities from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All young people are welcome along with their parents. — FATHER’S DAY

— A Women’s Empowerment Dinner will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy, located at 1360 MLK Drive in Elizabethtown, hosted by Toni Smith for BeeYhuu Foundation. The guest speakers will be Trina Collins, Jona McKoy, LaShonta Tatum, Kendra Darity and Sha’Re Mathis. The guest of honor will be Monica Pearson. — Learn how to grow the best lawn you can at the Bladen County Cooperative Extension Office, 450 Smith Circle Drive in Elizabethtown, from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring your soil report with a sample of your grass — as well as any weeds, insects or problems your yard has. Register by June 15. There is no cost. — The main branch of the Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown will host a Performing Arts Camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The camp will cover the areas of dance, TV and film acting, and modeling. The registration fee for materials is $100 for a family of one to four ($25 for each additional family member). Participation in the camp is free and you can register online at REJOICEStudio.webs.com (your printed receipt from registration is your ticket to enter).
