— — A Beginning Genealogy group meets at 1 p.m. at the Bladen County Senior Center, 608 McLeod St. in Elizabethtown. Bring a notebook and a pencil and we’ll embark on an enjoyable trip through time.

— The Baltimore Community Center will host an Out of School Cookout with many activities from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All young people are welcome along with their parents. — A Women’s Empowerment Dinner will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Paul R. Brown Leadership Academy, located at 1360 MLK Drive in Elizabethtown, hosted by Toni Smith for BeeYhuu Foundation. The guest speakers will be Trina Collins, Jona McKoy, LaShonta Tatum, Kendra Darity and Sha’Re Mathis. The guest of honor will be Monica Pearson. — Learn how to grow the best lawn you can at the Bladen County Cooperative Extension Office, 450 Smith Circle Drive in Elizabethtown, from 9 a.m. to noon. Bring your soil report with a sample of your grass — as well as any weeds, insects or problems your yard has. Register by June 15. There is no cost. — The main branch of the Bladen County Public Library in Elizabethtown will host a Performing Arts Camp from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. The camp will cover the areas of dance, TV and film acting, and modeling. The registration fee for materials is $100 for a family of one to four ($25 for each additional family member). — The Bladen County Committee of 100, Inc. will hold its annual meeting and dinner at 6 p.m. in the Gallery Ballroom of the Cape Fear Vineyard & Winery in Elizabethtown. The speaker will be Barry O’Brien, dean and associate professor at UNC-Pembroke School of Business, who will be speaking on “Entrepreneurship and Small Business.” All members are encouraged to attend. There will be no cost for the dinner for members, but guests can attend with a member at a cost of $15 each.
