Voter ID questions answered at board meeting

ELIZABETHTOWN — Board members and a small audience were updated on some elements of voter identification requirements at Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Bladen County Board of Elections.

The meeting lasted less than 20 minutes, carried out with a light agenda.

In the director’s update, Chris Williams said registration of candidates for the 2020 election cycle is going smoothly. Eleven candidates had filed at the time of the meeting.

Introductions were made for new staff members Sherita Stanley and Wanda Moore, the latter of which is the deputy director.

Wayne Schaeffer, chairman of the county’s Republican Party, had questions about voter ID. Williams provided answers with relation to the kinds accepted, and how a voter would go about submitting a ballot by absentee mail.
