DUBLIN — Agri-business technology will be a new course offering this fall at Bladen Community College, and taught by Lynn Marshburn.
Marshburn is a graduate of N.C. State, has worked in Sampson County as a Cooperative Extension livestock agent, and taught in Duplin County Schools where she earned Teacher of the Year in 2018-19.
The fall session of 12 weeks begins Sept. 16 and applications are still being accepted. A release says the “curriculum is designed to provide the entrepreneurial and technical skills necessary to manage a profitable, environmentally sound, community based small farm or agricultural business. Students will learn the fundamentals of agriculture, focusing on crop production, financial management, techniques for raising livestock, vegetable or fruit crops and starting their own sustainable agricultural business. Emphasis is placed on entrepreneurial and field training.”
