EAST BLADEN

ELIZABETHTOWN-The Pender Patriots defeated the East Bladen Lady Eagles for a 3-2 victory on Tuesday evening in a Waccamaw conference clash. The Patriots took the fifth set to overcome the host and secured the victory to get their fourth win in conference play. The Lady Eagles move to 2-7 in conference play and their overall record is 4-13 with three games remaining in the season.

Pender stays in fifth place in the standings after the victory with a record of 4-5 in conference and East Bladen stays put in sixth place after Tuesday’s result. The South Columbus Stallions are a perfect 9-0 in the Waccamaw and they have the Whiteville Lady Wolfpack chasing behind them in second place at 7-1. East Bladen will finish their season with three straight home games, starting with the third place Heide Trask Titans this Thursday.

WEST BLADEN

CLINTON-The West Bladen Lady Knights swept the Clinton Darkhoreses’ on their home floor for a 3-0 victory on Tuesday evening in a SAC 6 clash. The Lady Knights claimed the first set by a score of 25-19, they took the second set by a score of 25-22, and sealed the match in the third set by a score of 25-19. Senior’s Kiera Lewis and Maddie Walters were active in front of the net for the Lady Knights to help them overcome a conference rival.

Lewis finished the match with an impressive statline of 30 attacks, 12 kills, four blocks, and four service points. Walters finished the evening with 24 attacks, 10 kills, five service points that included two aces, and recorded a block. West Bladen freshman Greer Pope also dished out 20 assists in her team’s victory for her third straight game with double-digit assists.

The Lady Knights have now moved to 4-2 in the SAC 6 and have stayed in third place in the conference standings with four games remaining in the schedule. They take on the first place Midway Lady Raiders this Thursday at home for their next challenge.
